With the gift of a sponsored grant, honor the mother-figure in your life. A $500 Giving Joy Grant is the answer to the over 4,000 applications we receive from all over the world, featuring women who are finding their voice and ready to make an impact.
MICRO GRANTS. MACRO IMPACT. GLOBAL REACH
Micro Grants. Giving Joy awards one-time, micro grants (up to $500 USD) to women-led initiatives—giving women entrepreneurs critical resources to start businesses, acquire skills, sustain operations or improve their ideas worldwide.
Macro Impact. The benefits of these micro-grants cascade through communities. They strengthen skills, expand access to resources, create jobs and income. Grant activities translate into increased opportunities and services for everyone touched by the recipient’s endeavor. Known as the “multiplier effect,” it means that every dollar you donate to Giving Joy has an exponentially positive impact that goes beyond the individual grant recipient and overflows across women and communities.
In 2023, we proudly awarded a record 13 grants to individuals and organizations across 12 countries. The 13 grants directly benefited up to 380 women, providing them with essential business skills and knowledge about women’s health and rights. The ripple effect of our impact is evident as direct beneficiaries generously share their knowledge and resources through various platforms, including workshops, community events, webinars, social media, podcasts, and radio shows. As a result, approximately 60,000 individuals have been exposed to the transformative impact of the Giving Joy grants.
Global Reach. Giving Joy has awarded 77 grants to women-led initiatives in Afghanistan, Argentina, Botswana, Brazil, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ghana, Haiti, Kenya, India, Iraq, Liberia, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine and Zimbabwe and within the US states of California, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Virginia, Washington State, and Wisconsin.

Giving Joy takes a hands-on approach to philanthropy. We directly engage with our grant recipients, fostering personal connections through regular communication. These relationships enable us to monitor use of funds and tailored coaching and mentorship throughout and beyond the grant period.
In contrast to larger organizations, our small and nimble structure ensures that every dollar donated goes directly to funding grants rather than getting lost in bureaucratic overhead.
At Giving Joy, we take pride in our ability to document and quantify the tangible impact of our grants, as showcased in our comprehensive annual report. On average, each grant positively affects 15 direct beneficiaries and an additional 500 indirect beneficiaries.
Our international board members, each possessing deep experience in international development, synergize with Giving Joy's agile structure to ensure a rapid turnaround of grants. A testament to this efficiency is our accomplishment of awarding grants to Afghan women entrepreneurs within an impressive 2-month timeframe after the Taliban assumed control of the country in 2021.
Every application round sees Giving Joy receiving approximately 4000 applications from 70 different countries. This influx is a clear indicator of the unmet demand for micro grants, which serve as catalysts for initiating or expanding businesses, fostering business skills, and raising awareness about women's issues on a global scale.
