Corporación Sumemos Por Un Casanare Sostenible

La Corporación Sumemos (Sumemos) is a nonprofit organization based in Casanare, Colombia, dedicated to advancing sustainable development, social inclusion, and gender equality in marginalized communities. Through education, training, and public policy advocacy, the organization empowers women and promotes economic and territorial development across the region.

With the support of our Giving Joy grant, Sumemos launched a specialized pollination training program aimed at closing the technical and gender gap in oil palm farming. This initiative trained 9 rural women in pollination techniques, enhancing both crop productivity and their employment opportunities. 4 of the 9 are already working in the roles they acquired within palm plantations, demonstrating the positive impact of the training process. Through this work, Sumemos inspired greater gender equity in the oil palm sector, traditionally dominated by men, and empower women to play a central role in advancing local economies.
