Eco Innovation and Creation (ECIC)
Eco Innovation and Creation (ECIC), Cameroon is a newly established organization (2024) focused on promoting social and economic viability, gender equality, and biodiversity for community well-being. With the support of a Giving Joy grant, ECIC will train 50 women and girls in Bambili, in the North West Region of Cameroon, in innovative beehive production using recycled materials. Participants will learn to construct beehives from used car tires and bamboo, creating bee-friendly environments, and to build beehive stands using recycled plastic ropes. Additionally, they will receive training in marketing and selling beehive products, equipping them with valuable business skills.
This initiative will provide income opportunities for the participants through the sale of beehive products, while also benefiting their communities by increasing pollination and honey production. The grant will directly benefit 50 women and girls, while indirectly impacting an additional 250 family members through increased household income and economic empowerment.
