Fridah’s Spice

Fridah Abimbola El-Zakir is the founder and CEO of Fridah’s Spice, a Nigerian-based spice company on a mission to enrich lives through the power of authentic and healthy natural spices. Fridah’s Spice offers a diverse range of high-quality spice products and blends, promoting healthier living and bringing the rich flavors of African spices to tables worldwide. The company focuses on sustainability, Afrocentric values, and supporting local communities to positively impact the spice industry and its customers.

With the Giving Joy grant, Fridah’s Spice invested in eco-friendly packaging materials like paper bags and boxes, reinforcing their commitment to environmental responsibility. They also participated in the Kaduna Food Festival, engaging with potential customers and building brand recognition, loyalty, and trust. Fridah led an an educational workshop on spices, their health benefits, and culinary uses, enhancing participants' knowledge and cooking practices. And lastly, Fridah and her team distributed 160 sample packs at the market fair and workshop, allowing community members to experience the benefits of their products firsthand.

The grant enabled Fridah’s Spice to connect with the community, promote culinary education, and foster brand loyalty. It also facilitated collaborations with other businesses in the food industry.

The team bonded over the project's success, which created a positive buzz and potential partnerships.” Stated Fridah and added that: “These initiatives positioned Fridah’s Spice as a trusted authority in the culinary industry, contributing to healthier lifestyles and community empowerment.”

Planned activities for the coming months include further community engagement, educational workshops, and expanding their sustainable practices. Lessons learned emphasize the importance of collaboration, planning, and celebrating small successes.
