Feminismos Del Sur

Ester Pinheiro, the visionary behind the Feminismos del Sur podcast, is committed to amplifying decolonial voices through a feminist perspective. The podcast serves as a platform to unravel societal gender norms, foster gender education, and ignite conversations about social inequalities. With the support of the Giving Joy grant, Ester's initiative produced two multilingual podcasts in French, Portuguese, Spanish, and English, highlighting the gender inequalities faced by women and girls in the global south.

The first episode, aired in May 2024 in Spanish and Portuguese, focused on how women are decolonizing science in the global south, in collaboration with the South Feminist Futures platform. It explored concepts such as decolonization, what it means for women to decolonize their daily lives, and how decolonization impacts society as a whole.

By providing real-world examples, the podcast served as an educational tool, showing how colonization continues to shape societies beyond academic discourse. The episode was launched on multiple audio platforms, as well as their website, with additional promotion on social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube. The second episode, aired in September 2024, highlighted the experiences of young women and girls within educational systems.
