Fundación Kaleidos

Fundación Kaleidos an Argentine NGO, raises awareness and advocates for adolescent and teen pregnancy, maternity, and paternity. A Giving Joy grant funded a 3-part podcast, video, and campaign materials on the consequences of obstetric violence in adolescents. In November 2023, Kaleidos recorded videos of two adolescent mothers sharing positive experiences with health professionals during pregnancy and childbirth. Each video featured a teenager answering, "What helped you during childbirth/post-partum?" and "What was good for you at that moment?" The goal was to highlight positive actions by doctors and nurses that improved their childbirth or postpartum experience. See complete video below.

The grant also supported a communication campaign launched in May 2024 during Respectful Childbirth Week and the International Day of Action for Women's Health. The campaign included a podcast, an educational video with an obstetrician and midwife, and materials on rights and reporting obstetric violence (see below). These resources reached over 81,000 accounts with nearly 100,000 views across Latin America. The full campaign is located here: https://fundacionkaleidos.org/por-mas-partos-libres-de-violencias/.

The grant enabled Fundación Kaleidos to continue giving a voice to adolescent girls, emphasizing the importance of expressing themselves and informing peers to foster empathy and awareness. They focused on respectful births while addressing obstetric violence positively. Lucia Sucari, Communication Coordinator, stated, “Going positive is a beautiful way to reach others with an optimistic message. We also established networks with adolescent mothers and health professionals, expanding the foundation's community.”

The campaign positioned Kaleidos as a reference in sexual and reproductive health for adolescents and young people in Argentina and across Latin America. The materials produced add to their resources and expanded their social media audience.
