Margaret Ndiangui - Chicken Farmer

Margaret Ndiangui, a 25-year old Kenyan single mom, who recently took on chicken farming to support herself (see photo above) and her toddler. With the Giving Joy grant, Margaret built three chicken coops to accommodate the 70 (!) chickens she now has. Margaret also enrolled in an online agriculture class where she learned about vegetable farming, rearing poultry, sales and marketing, and book keeping. After the class Margaret decided to start a herb garden. She now sells the herbs at markets, together with her chickens and eggs. Margaret now has 10 part-time staff and from the profits she is saving up money for her son’s education. Talk about a go-getter! You go Margaret!!
