WOMEN FOR ACTION

Women for Action was born in Malawi’s Dzaleka refugee camp by women who suffered various forms of violence. With the Giving Joy grant, Women for Action assisted 40 handicap women-led households to build environmentally-friendly home ovens. The ovens are adapted to burn green embers (versus burning plastics or coal) and used for heat and cooking. Women for Action is gearing up to train the 40 households to use the ovens and manufacture the green ember briquettes, as a sustainable income-generating solution.
