Vision Foundation

Vision Foundation, India, supports rural women, youth, children, elders, and disabled individuals in the rural areas of Madurai District, Tamilnadu. With the Giving Joy grant, the Foundation will provide vocational training on vermicomposting to women previously engaged in manual scavenging. These women are oppressed, exploited and live in helplessness and submissiveness. In these circumstances, this project activities provide an alternative employment opportunity through production and sale of vermicompost with income necessary for a dignified and healthy.

In Usilampatti block, 20 women will be trained on vermicompost production, packaging, and marketing, empowering them to promote organic farming. The trained women will then train an additional 20 beneficiaries. The program includes a revolving seed money fund, enabling beneficiaries to set up vermicomposting units and generate income. As loans are repaid, new beneficiaries will be funded, ultimately benefiting 40 women within six months, fostering sustainable livelihoods and alternative employment.
