Youth For The Peace In Great Lakes Region

Anna Ramazani is the President Youth for the Peace in Great Lakes Region based in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The organization increases access to education for marginalized girls, specifically fighting discrimination against Albino girls. Anna and her organization used the Giving Joy grant to re-enroll all Albino girls who live in the region they operate (a total of 12), purchase school supplies and pay for school fees for the entire school year. The organization supplemented some of the costs with their own funds. The grant benefited the girls’ families (at least 88 members) and mitigated stigma against albino girls.
